WEDGWOOD of Etruria and Barlaston "Friendship Salem" Plate.

This classic looking Blue and White plate is part of the Wedgwood “Friendship Salem” collection. With a decorative rope edge and a bird border, the highlight of this plate is the full rigged ship centre.

The ship in question was called “Friendship” and sailed from Salem Harbour for Batavia (modern day Jakarta). Friendship made 15 voyages during her career, to Batavia, India, China, South America, the Caribbean, England, Germany, the Mediterranean, and Russia; she was captured as a prize of war by the British in September 1812.

This pattern was only produced in 1977.

The plate is in excellent condition and shows no signs of use or wear. With its strong nautical theme this plate has a very nice vintage aesthetic that would fit in to any retro home.
